Cheat Engine

Hope this is the right place for this.

I've got a game (which will remain anonymous unless a mod says I can
name it.) I'm trying to hack. I've done the tutorials, and I still can't find
this damn line I need.

I'm trying to find the gold increase line. (By the way the game is a small
MMO) I've searched for a value, lets say 213 for example. I'll get 30-160
hits. If it goes up by two, I search for 215. Let's say it cuts it down to 16
results now. I get some more gold, let's say it goes up by 2 again. I
search for 217. POOF, no results. So obviously it's changing values as
well as locations.

I have applied everything I have learned from the tutorials. I've done
searches from Bytes all the way up to All. I've searched by exact values,
increased values, decreased, changed, and all in between. I have
checked what accesses addresses, I have checked what writes them.

I have done everything I can possibly think of, and STILL have no luck
with this.

Can anyone, I repeat, ANYONE, offer any legit advice or help?

You will not be successful using CE for server sided games

I'm sure gold for this game is Server Side, but I was thinking if I could find the address that told the game when gold was earned, I could replicate it and send it in making the game think I had earned gold, and thus give it to me, when I had in fact not won a battle.

Not sure what all is, in fact, server side for this one.

Can someone give me an example of things for an MMORPG that would be client side that I could go ahead and try my hand at?
