Data types, then basic IO, then control statements(if, if then, for, do while), then functions, then arrays, then classes

By that point you should be able to make basic mathematical programs. At that time, if you like it, i'd invest in a book or two.

This is coming from my own experience as a hobbyist in c++ from a year or so ago, i'm sure someone like augustine or slugsnack has a better plan.

Thanks for the tip though. I have this little compiler called borland C++ compiler. Is that any good?

I'll probably get bashed for this too, but as a hobbyist I really liked Dev-C++

I installed it on my flash drive and kept it with me for whenever. It won't serve for larger projects, but for right now should be errthing you need. Once you get a hang of everything up to functions, give Project Euler's problems a look. http://projecteuler.net/problems
