125C on GPU holy shit,~.
My CPU is around 37C normally and 60C under load on stock cooler. GPU is around those ranges as well.

Yep, those temperatures are definitely too hot. First see if the problem is being caused by something in your case, such as a dust clog up, or perhaps a wire caught in one of your fans.

Your graphics card is definitely overheating, although the rest of your system is fine. Try to get a better cooling system, be it more case fans/etc or get a more efficient graphics card. Your graphics card should stay below 90C.

I can't help but think that a sensor on the GPU is bad. 125C? Yeah, the GPU shouldn't even work anymore.

Call to warranty your graphics card. 100 degrees Celcius is the breaking point for a working gpu card. That's what my nVidia customer rep told me.

GPU Overheating can easily cause shutdowns when GPU is under load. I recommend you blow the dust out of that GPU. Head over to the Air Compressors thread and look for more information.
A computer fan help accumulate more dust. I have been using stock fans since 3 years ago and everything runs cool--as long as I keep things dust free. What you need to do first is clean the dust off of your GPU. If it is still overheating above 100 degrees, then Warranty the card and have it replaced with a new one, for free.
If you don't have a warranty anymore, I suggest you buy a new generation GPU so you can play Battlefield 3. Good luck!

That thing is direct X related and has nothing to do with hardware temperature issues.
New generation GPU is...
ATI HD +6000
nVidia GTX +500
Buy new GPU to play Battlefield 3 or Modern Warfare 3

Most likely clogged with dust, use a brush to clean it or a can of compress air.
