I was going to download a video downloader plugin for Firefox. I always used so-think's for Firefox 3.6, before but now I have upgraded to 4 and it is listed as incomparable(won't let me use it). So, since I couldn't I looked around and saw that they had an updated version. I downloaded and installed it. I had to restart Firefox (like always) to make the plugin work.
When Firefox loaded back up, it sent me to a fake website trying to be as so-think. It froze Firefox for like 2 minutes. Then I hit control-alt-delete, and looked at my process list and seen plugin container.exe was taking in all my computer usage, so I just ended the process. Then my AV popped up saying it just removed a a virus. It tried to load a trojan from my cache, and hide it in my registry. My anti-virus thankfully removed it.
A few minutes later, I looked back on this "Sothink" product. I figured out that it was a company trying to imitate sothink. Sothink's regular username for Firefox products is "sothink", while the virus's username was sothinkmedia.com.
This is the virus's official Firefox addon user page(this page doesn't contain a virus): https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/user/149299/?src=api
Why is this add-on still on Firefox's page? I've heard complaints of the virus while I was scrolling the comments on the add-on's page trace back to January 2010! I mean, this is a virus on Firefox's official add-on downloading site.
CEF, this is a warning, DO NOT DOWNLOAD "SOTHINK WEB VIDEO DOWNLOAD" IT IS A VIRUS!

That's very strange. I've always assumed that FF addons were tested and approved by real people. Guess that's not true, how unfortunate.

Well, I have like 3 I use, but I liked sothink's the best.
They pretty much all the same, the only differences. usually, are the UIs and if you can save in different formats.
