With SNB, X58 is obsolete as it can get. No point on getting 1366 even when you got a tree that grows money.
There is also going to be another SNB-E socket and that's LGA1356.
This one will has a single QPI link and triple channel ram as oppose to dual QPI and quad channel ram found on LGA2011.

Intel never drops the price on their CPUs, so I wouldn't expect the X58 to drop in price even after X79 hits the shelves.

Intel rarely drops prices, yes. Resellers however... I'm planning on picking up some cheap hardware in June, when I'll be traveling to Hong Kong. No taxes, no shipping, and competitive price-matching. Take this for example:

I can get a 2600k for $250 at my local Microcenter. Still debating on waiting until after the 2011 just to see if the performance increase will be worth the extra chunk of change.

But I did manage a discount for an XFX 6970 priced at ~$2100 HKD ($262 CAD) last month. Was either in Mong Kwok or Wan Chai, took about 3 hours jumping from store to store to price-match. I was buying other stuff from that particular store as well, so that discount kinda made sense (just kinda).

Now if only shipping wasn't so darn expensive...
