Sometimes is better to dream about hardware. they are good alternative to 2d/3d porn or real life in general.

Get the new 560 instead of the 460. ( http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/graphics/2011/01/25/nvidia-geforce-gtx-560-ti-1gb-review/1 )

Installing a Win7 64-bit is just like any other installation. You can't "upgrade" directly within your current system, but you don't need to format your drive either. You can keep your files.
Yeah seriously, it's really really good.

Beats the 5870 considerably in some games, while being $50 cheaper.

I just bought a 5870 earlier this week...
;-;

The only games it manages to beat is only when it's running TWIMTBP titles.
3 out of the 4 titles by that review site were TWIMTBP, except for Dirt 2.
Tom's show a benchmark of Metro 2033 which is also a Nvidia biased game and AMD cards even the HD5870 manages to out perform the GTX 560 Ti. These days if they want you to believe in a card that's good even when it's not, they'll do anything to make you think it is, when it's not. Only the uneducated will be fool by this nonsense.
On this one, the 560Ti outperforms the 5870, however only very, very slightly.

And are you trying to say the 560Ti isn't a good card? Because, even if a 5870 is slightly better (I personally wouldn't consider it to be), 560Ti is still $30-50 cheaper. They're pretty much changing up the price points there. It isn't worth it to pay an extra $40 to get a card that will be considerably worse on some games, and only a tiny bit better on others.

I'm not saying the 5870 is bad, I mean I just bought one, I'm just trying to say that the 560Ti seems to be a significant card brought to the table by nVidia.

all GTX 2,4,560 are kinda mixed water, since nVdia just release them as a joke card ( not performance, not cheap, late release) to slap at competitor's face.
While at the same time both company cutting their prices for last gen flagsmenship card.

The HD5870 is almost a 3 year old card and to be competitive these days speaks volumes. GTX 560 Ti didn't bring the excitement as the GTX 460 as Nvidia had already fix their problems. If the problem never existed the 460 will be just like any other mid-range card. But with the problem existing in their GTX 480/470/465. Nvidia had to get this fix or their reputation will be in deep shit. The 460 fixed those problems, cost less and was better than a 470 is where the excitement came from. The 560 is just a mid-range card in 500 series line up. If you have a GTX 460, no point to feel bad thinking your card is obsolete as it still has lots of potential.

The 5870 is just over a year old, far from being even two years old. And also, since fucking when was the 460 better than the 470? Show me a bench where the 460 clearly beats the 470, because I'm pretty sure that never happened.

The HD5870 is 14 months old as of today, must have look at some where else. For betting better, it's not about the benchmarks as the 470 surely beats the 460. It's the technological implementations put into the 460 that makes it better. It's was what Fermi is suppose to be in the first place.

When the GTX 480 arrives, everyone was amazed by its performance but it's power consumption made people think for a bit. Then GTX 470 came and same thing, it was too hot. The 460 arrived and everyone had their jaws dropped due to is value and power consumption. Also it was competitive which FPS didn't really matter as many users are enjoying the games their playing.
GTX 480 - to expensive only the rich can have it
GTX 470 - still expensive a bit cheaper but it's way too hot
GTX 465 - abandon and forgotten
GTX 460 - cheap, runs cool, and can play most of today's games
GTX 580- runs cool, best single GPU, expensive
GTX 570- runs cool, 2nd in the 500 series line up
GTX 560 Ti -runs cool, successor to GTX 470, a mid-range 500 series.
The 460 bought the same type of excitement when ATi introduced the HD4770.

So you're rating GPUs off of how much excitement they get when they're released?

:\

Because if not, I really still don't understand what you're getting at. I mean, are you saying the 560Ti isn't good because it didn't revolutionize the GPU industry? Because the 460 didn't do that either. Are you saying that the 560TI isn't good because it didn't beat out a significantly more expensive AMD competitor? Because it did do that --> the 5870.

I mean, it's a graphics card. Please, enlighten me on what exactly the 560Ti would have to be in order for you to consider it a good card.

GTX 460 fixed Fermi by lowering power consumption and temperature.
The GTX 560 Ti will be a good card if it justifies that you are willing to spend another $250 on it just to have it even though you had just bought another graphic card.

You just bought a HD5870, return it and grab this instead. Are you willing to do it?

@Elpacco, even nVidia said they wouldn't release the 560TI if the sale went well for the 570. Because 560TI really serves nothing but a placeholder as a $250 card, although we would be jizzing in our pants if it was launched at a $200 dollar and AMD isn't cutting prices for 6950 and 5870s.
