I've been doing cardiovascular exercises recently. I'm aiming to lose some weight this year. I've started off with a proper diet, 3 set meals a day and lots of water.
As for exercising, I don't know which is better,
Using the elliptical machine indoor - 20 minutes
Indoor -> higher temperature -> hotter workout -> more sweat
Running hard around the track outside - 15 minutes
Outside -> a lot colder -> little sweat
When I use the elliptical machine, because I am indoors, I sweat like crazy. I'm using quite a bit or strength, but not nearly as much as I use when I run around the track.
When I'm running around the track, I push myself and run hard for the entire 15 minutes, panting like mad at the end, unlike using the elliptical machine, where I finish, breathing heavily, but not nearly as heavily as when I finish running. I mean, I push myself so hard, I feel like I'm going to faint at 10 minutes into my run.
But because it's colder (much colder actually) outside, I'm being cooled off the entire time, disallowing my body to sweat a lot.
So to summarize,
Elliptical machine - Much more sweat, not as much energy used.
Running outside - Little sweat, insane amount of energy used.
Which will help me achieve my goal of becoming slimmer at a faster rate?
I only want to have to do one.
My main question is, which method helps lose weight faster?
Heavy sweating + less energy or less sweating + insane usage of energy?

Probably hevy sweating, since that when sweating you release toxins from your sweat gland and also, sweating increases your potential burn more calories.

Not only is there no scientific support that "toxins" are released through sweating... it is actually known that sweating increases the rate at which you expel vital nutrients such as potassium, calcium, magnesium, and other trace elements.
Combine this with the fact that running uses far more energy and therefor more calories, and it's clear that running outside is the far better choice for losing weight.

But if I am losing those nitrients, I could easily get them back by maintaining my proper diet, and not missing any meals.
Also, this is what I don't understand, is it sweating that rids the calories, or is it the energy usage that rids calories?
And is there anything other than calories that contributes to fat and weight gain?

It is better to exercise in the cold because your body must work harder to maintain body temperature, and it's easier to expel any additional heat. This allows you to stay cooled, hydrated, and nutrated, which therefor prevents exhaustion (allowing you to work out longer and burn more calories).
It is energy use that rids calories. Sweating just rids excess heat. Your muscles use consume calories to produce mechanical energy, and excess energy is expelled as heat. This doesn't mean that forcing yourself to sweat will force your body to burn more calories -- it actually means the opposite. Your body will try to burn less calories in an attempt to reduce heat output.
Calories is a measurement of energy, so calories are not a physical thing that causes fat. It's the fat that your body uses as energy, and calories are the standard way to measure that energy.
When looking for things to eat, go for what has the most nutrients with the least amount of calories (sugarless cereal is best).
