You know how you can boot into safe mode and then login as Admin, then reset password in XP? Well, I have forgotten the password to a old Win7 machine I have and I know this doesn't work with Win7. Do you guys know how to reset Win7 Password? WITHOUT external hardware/software. Reason: I need to get some old wallpapers that I'd left on there. And no I have not used a USB drive for password reset. You need to do it BEFORE you loose the password. Any help.

Well, I can't do that; because technically, this computer isn't mine.

Download and install kon-boot or backtrack4 onto a flash drive.

Boot off the flash drive.

Hi there, .::Byte::.. I'd like to introduce you to a wonderful secret.

Now, this will be slightly different depending on what internet browser you use, but I'm sure you can figure it out. Look at the top right of your browser window. You should see a bar, probably white, which you can type things into. This magical thing is called a 'search engine', and it seems very few people use them, because if they did, they wouldn't post things like this.

Now, click that bar, and you should be able to type something into it. Hold onto your hat, this is going to blow your mind: Type "windows 7 password reset" into it, and press the enter key. Your browser, assuming your internet connection is still functional, should now load a new page: The "results" page.

Now, there's a good chance you fainted upon the shock of seeing this. Assuming you have been resuscitated and reassured, we shall continue.

Now, this page is the result of a search engine trawling its database of internet content for your search terms, compiling the results in a simple page, and sending that page to your computer. Each of the blue "links" here lead to one of the pages it considered relevant. You should see more links near the bottom, used for flicking between multiple 'pages' of these results.

From here on, you'll have to go it alone. If you have trouble, try making your search terms more specific, e.g. "windows 7 password reset no disk".

Good luck, and happy searching.

You could have summed that up to about, why don't you fucking Google, but being kind people as we are in Computer Talk, we help others in need of technical assistance.

PCLoginNow - It's Open Source
This is what I recommend from personal experience.
It will remove the password completely.

Burn the .iso onto a disk with imgburn - It's Free.

Yes it does work with Windows 7.

I use it at work regularly.
(Computer technician)

Edit: Most things that work for Vista work for Windows 7. Note the version numbers.

Vista & Server '08: 6.0
7 & Server '08 R2: 6.1

Vs. XP: 5.2
