Looks like Dell is in a lawsuit due to some shady practices between 2003 and 2005, from shipping computers during that time with capacitors they knew were faulty.

Great to see large corps screw us all over and get away with it. _________________

I'd check the Dell website and see if your models are those listed with the bad capacitors. If so they may have extended your warrantys. I had an HP that the motherboard died in, HP had so many come back that they extended the warranty an extra year on that model, and mine died just under that extended warranty. Sent it in and got it fully working 14 days later. _________________

I had a Dell laptop made in 2003-2004, I think, and I kept using it because it wasn't too heavy, until it stopped working for no reason last year. Related? Or would my laptop have busted shortly after we got it? |

Hmm, OP would they just fix my computer, or would they give me a refund or something? _________________

Usually in cases like that they repair the equipment at no cost to you.
Check their website, contact their support. If you pushed you could probably get it fixed.
@Desolati0n, even a box that old, I'd get fixed. Could still use it as a dedicated torrent box if you added an external to it. I still have an AMD K6-2 333mhtz processor on my network. It's currently running Linux and does nothing but file serving. _________________
