Iv always been using Fraps for recording my games, but its always kinda laggy with Black ops.. and saving 20sec clips as like 3-4gb. Is this because im playing it on near max? Also, does anybody have anything better than fraps? thanks!

I'm pretty sure Fraps records raw without compression.
Not to sure, I might be wrong. Feel free to correct me.

Compress it, also record at halfsize, 30fps.

Camtasia studios is great. But it costs money. Unless you have any other way to get it (ponders...).

Use wegame. It's a really great completely free FRAPS alternative.
http://www.wegame.com/download/
It doesn't have all of the features FRAPS does, like framerate display, but if all you're using it for is videos, it's perfect. |

there's compression, but it's designed to be extremely minimal so that the encoding can work in real time. you can turn it off if you really feel like it. |

Ahh! Camtasia isnt really working for me T_T.. After i press record and go back in game, everything seems alright, but when i watch the clip over again, its just a black screen with my mouse cursor showing were ever i was pointing -.-

Camtasia Studio can not record overlays, that may be why u get that result.

In COD I always opened console and typed in /record start then /record stop to have the game record a sessions, then I could replay that and use fraps at my leisure to record to some other format, but since they took console away, no more.
I use Fraps most times, then re-encode it to something not so large.

This so lag doesn't bother you alot, and use virtuadub on the fraps file to compress it to a "normal" size. |
