6870 and 6850 will only be faster than the 5850 and 5830. Time will tell if overclocking will produce an edge over the 5870, though I'm not expecting much.

there were some pretty sizable changes... not that they seem to be putting them to particularly good use. every 4 shader units are now comparable to the previous cluster of 5 in terms of horsepower.

i don't even see this being possible. the pci-e (i think) spec has a soft cap on how much power you're allowed to draw.
you the user can overvolt (and thus go over it) but i think cards mustn't go over 300w usage from the factory.
