Before the summer I got an error message from windows saying my graphics card driver had stopped working but windows fixed the problem. I also got numerous BSOD's with different error codes. It turned out something on the graphics card was fried. So I got a new graphics card and all. Yet I still get BSOD's and these messed up screens after the new installtion of my graphics card.
It can happen at anytime, wether im gaming, watching stuffz or my comp just sits idle. The time varies between each BSOD/messed up screen. May be 10 minutes or it may be 5-10 hours.
I've run memtest86 and i think i got 40 errors after 6 passes.
I just need to know if faulty ram might be the problem of such screens that im getting. There will also be an irretating sound like 'errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr'

more info, just ask!

If memtest found 6 errors, yes you could have faulty ram, successful memtest should find 0 errors. If you have more than 1 stick of ram, you are going to have to remove the stick that is in slot 2 and run memtest, if no errors after 6 passes you can safely conclude that stick is good. Remove that stick and place the 2nd stick in slot 1, then re-run memtest, if after 6 passes memtest returns 0 errors, you can safely conclude that stick is good. The problem would then point to your motherboard as possibly having a bad ram slot. More than likely though, one of the two sticks will throw an error.
The sound you are hearing could be one of your fans going. While your case is open take compressed air and clean all the fans in your case, CPU, PSU, and the case fans, this should quiet it down for awhile. Or you could locate the exact fan causing the noise and install a new one.
You could also try to update your motherboard drivers to resolve your video issues.
You mentioned that you got BSOD's, can you post a pic of one? Most of the time they will display some type of error, you can usually troubleshoot what is causing it by the addresses that are displayed.

I dont get the same 'your driver has stopped working' error anymore.
regarding the sound, the sound only starts when i get those messed up screens or a BSOD

this is the paramaters of the latest one:

if you got memtest errors, then your ram is either not configured correctly or defective. check the voltage / timings.

What numbers should the voltage/timings be?

Depends on your ram. You need to find out the specs of your ram.
By replacing your video card I took it as that issue was resolved. I was referring to your screens of your video going out.
Also make sure there are no remnants of the older cards drivers still installed.

Does this happened to you before and/or after you formatted your drive?
