I just bought a new ASUS R10 router wireless N
previously i was using a linksys wireless G with speed boost router and it worked okay but i needed more range
I bought the ASUS R10 plugged it in and it worked for a little while like less then 5 minutes then it tell me i set up the wrong dynamic IP or static IP.
I couldn't access the internet.
Any idea on what to do? Im using Rogers high speed internet (Cable)
I want to set up my R10 as soon as possible but this keeps happening.

Make sure the router is set to accept a DHCP address, which should be assigned from Rodgers. If that is setup properly try unplugging the power from the router, and the cable modem, plug the power to the cable modem in first, wait for all diagnostic lights to finish their start cycle, next plugin the router, and let it get it's IP from the modem. If this doesn't work, post an image of your configs, of course you should blacken out anything that is personal, like encryption type keys any usernames or passwords etc.

I think I see your problem. The gateway is set to 192.168.1.1, that should be the ip of your router. Which the address bar is showing as 192.168.1.2 also your DHCP is set to start at this address, which when you turn on a computer if it's assigned it will conflict. Try starting at 1.3 see if that resolves that issue.

It didn't work. Instead my error is that my ethernet is not plugged in?

Did you set your routers IP to 192.168.1.1?

When you connect to your router use the address 192.168.1.1 instead of 192.168.1.2

And you are still unable to change any router configs. That's odd.

I can't access my router page. I checked the lights and the WAN is not lite the Air is still on though.
So i think my router is not getting the IP from the modem. What should i do?
btw i don't know how to reset the router it has a button i held it down for a while but it didn't do anything.

Just so we are clear. When your router is set to the IP 192.168.1.2, the router has a gateway set of 192.168.1.1 and is set to DHCP anything that connects to it starting from address 192.168.1.2, you can connect to the router and the config but you can't access the internet. When you set the router IP as 192.168.1.1, and have any computer that connects to it set to get DHCP from the router you can access the internet but not the router configs.
That doesn't seem right.
Setup the router the way it originally was, on one of your computers goto a command prompt Start | Run | cmd press Enter type in ipconfig press enter.
Post results.
