My aunt had me fix her pc because her friend's kid, a so called "computer expert" decided the USB connectors needed to be plugged in and plugged them in to the DC SW prongs on the mobo, reconnecting the Power switch wire to the Power LED prongs and she couldn't figure out why it didn't work (LOL)

I fixed it in like 15 seconds so, what should I charge for that?

Clearly it wasn't a big hassle to go through, and whether or not you talk a lot, family is family, and you really shouldn't charge them for you to help out, because you never know when you may need their help someday.

Another question of value, where does value come from. Is the value in the fact that she lacks the knowledge to do it her self and I know how? Or is it in the work that was done specifically? If it is the work done specifically then I would agree 5-15$ but is there more to it than that? If I had not repaired it for her she would have had to A) Buy a new system or B) paid a professional $80+ to look at it and more to fix it.

I would say 20-40 is a reasonable deal analytically. Unless I deem my worth cheap and my work insignificant?

hmm I shall have to ponder this a while.

While it may seem rude, it isn't. Once word spreads you will end up always fixing your families computers for nothing. I'm currently trapped in this situation. I can not go to any family function without fixing at least 1 computer. At Christmas one year I literally spent the entire time I was supposed to be spending with family setting up laptops that were given out. 6 hours of work on a holiday is no fun.

While you don't have to charge her out the butt, $20 is a fair price considering you saved her at least $100 by not having to take it to a shop and pay for the diagnostic not to mention having to leave her computer there while it was being fixed.
