core count didn't go up and clock per clock, it's not much different at all. meh

Overclocking will be limited on LGA1155 but they will release special version CPU's with a K suffix that will have a unlocked multiplier. Like the Intel i7 875K for LGA1156.. LGA2011 however won't be limited iirc.

From the early immature test, looks like the i7 980x is the shortest most expensive 6 core that ever lived. The 970 won't even have the chance to see the light of day.

depending on the pricing, i can see this going over terribly for intel.
