This was a real problem for one of my friends and it was solved, and I just want to see if anyone else can figure it out.

Okay so he recently put together a build, am3 mobo (msi 870a-g54) 4gb of gseil ram (reviews said the ram worked in the motherboard) a biostar hd 5770 and a antec 550 psu.

I put everything together and he accidentally put a pcie into the 8 pin 12v EPS, top two row of pins threw out a spark and he immediately unplugged the psu.

PSU is fine, works in another system.
CPU fan spins up
ram is unable to be tested in another system, each stick does not allow it to post.

When turned on the CPU power phase light do turn on

GPU fan does not spin up

case fan does spin up

He did clear cmos, didn't help.

the mobo is not touching the case.

System does not post.

Why are we solving something that's already solved?

The case has no front USB headers.

He fried the PCI-E connecter, no power to the graphics card. MoBo detects a malfunctioning card, tries to beep but no speaker connected, hence the illusion of no POST.
