amd is always more bang for buck.

AMD owns ATI.

why did you delete your post?

Nvidia is more expensive, and their cards can range in more or less power depending. I think the new nvidia card gtx480 or w/e is only 10% more powerful than a 5870. It looks like Newegg is having sales on the fermi though. I'm seeing them for 450 - 500 right now. The 5870 is around the same for the more expensive ones. but the more standard price is 400 or so.

it really depends what game you'll tend to play.
ATI's 5000 series offers very nice price/performance ratio, eyefinity, and power efficient wise too, but the low end such as 57xx offers bad performance on higher resolution gaming and dx11.
5850 remains best price/performance, then the 470 comes second
5870 and 5970 are really for e-penis masturbation, who gives a fuck on over 200fps aside your e-penis?
Meanwhile the Fermi gives most fps, higher tdp, and higher price tag, you get what you paid for:PhysX, Cuda, 3D surround (doubtful)less min. fps is fine too when your max fps already goes over 60/120
IMO: the 465 = shit unless you are very lucky. 470 SLI scaling are nearly 100%, and 480 is just to show off your e-penis hardcore.

even ob games such as crysis because looking at benchmarks both cards are fluctuating of course this is with crazy ass filtering and everything but i just dont want to buy a card for X amount of $ then find out i could have got my GTX for X$ less and had a better card ive been looking into it a lot more and the 5970 is really looking like its in a league of its own because it is a multi GPU card where the GTX 480 is a single

Nvidia was in the lead a year ago, ATI is in the lead now. Also, a 5870 will eat all your games at 100 fps, and I don't even know what games you play. 5970s are purely for giant multi monitor stunts. Don't waste your money. In the $300-$400 dollar range, the 5850s and 5870s deliver the supreme bang to the buck in today's graphics market.

Oh, and looking at your post, it will eat benchmarks like nothing you've ever seen, don't even worry.

Just a single 5870? and I plan on playing pretty much everything MW2, Crysis\2, BF BC2 etc.

"Just" a single 5870? Are you planning on burning 3000$? Yes, "just" a single 5870 will never dip under 40 in crysis warhead on a 1080p monitor. Mw2 and BC2? Skyrocketing frame rates. Seriously man, 965, 4 high speed gigabytes of ram, 5870, all the other good stuff, you've got yourself a top, top, top end computer.

Are you freaking crazy? A single 4850 can max on mw2 and bfbc2. BFBC2 needs a beast cpu to go with it though as its one of the few games using full quad. Not saying it needs an i7, just a decent quad. Your best bet is a Phenom quad or better, and a 5850. These together will destroy.

Dual 5870> 1 5970 purely because you get better clocks.

ASUS ARE > Dual 5870> 1 5970
search your feeling, you know it's true when you see how stupid the concept gets.
Also hero, 4850 can't max shit on 1920x1200. with the exception of console ports.

It can. People max BFBC2 on it. Just cause 2 can be maxed on it, but using the dx10 rendering engine obviously. 4850 can still max plenty. I'm going to upgrade to a 5870 asap though. I have decided to not build an even better pc to get my gfx card up.

That or buy a fight stick.

You will definitely not be maxing BC2 @ 1920x1200 comfortably nor JC2.

Maybe if you enjoy a peak fps of 25-30 you could call it a job well done but that's shitty.

My screen isn't 1920 x 1200 so that really does not concern me.
