64 bit programs can be faster
less register pressure, and i suppose you could do some other tricks as well.

I do have a lot of programs installed, and as I have no way of knowing which don't support 64 bit, I always stick with 32 bit, but I'm always hearing how 64 bit is the future and the pros outweigh the cons

almost all programs will work on 64-bit
with the exception of rootkit tools you might use to hide hacktools, and some features of some tools will be disabled(like ce)
but overall everything else will work fine

You are confusing the OS with the browser.
It's IE 64bit which does not support flash, but there is also a 32bit version as well which does support flash.

So if you 4GB of RAM installed and a 1GB video card, 3GB of RAM will be usable. If you have 4GB of RAM and a 512MB video card, 3.5GB of RAM will be usable.

About flashplayer in 64-bit, here is an adobe article:
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/000/6b3af6c9.html
"Adobe Flash Player is not supported for playback in 64-bit browsers. Flash Player will, however, run in a 32-bit browser, running on a 64-bit operating system."
You will need to start the browser's 32-bit version, that is all. But they promise it will work in the future, someday...
Just good to know before You would be surprised.

Most programs aren't 64 bit. Firefox, for instance, is 32 bit made to work on 64 bit. Internet explorer (the variety that isn't crippled by the fact that it can't use flash, id est, IE 64 bit) is the same thing. As far as as I know, all games are 32 bit, too.

Not sure about how many others but I'm sure google or wiki could render a list.
