I was given a Gigabyte HD5670 for Christmas and it worked perfectly ... 'till now. a few weeks ago when i went to turn on my computer it gave me a BIOS beep code of 1 long 3 short beeps. i looked it up and it said it was a video memory error, i plugged in my old graphics card and it worked fine, now with my new card in again it took about 30 reboots before it worked? then i turned it off last night and guess what its giving me the codes again any ideas?? i have tried resetting the card but that's not it and i know the memory isn't damaged because otherwise it would of had errors or what ever when it worked after the numerous boots and it was on for about 2 weeks so plenty of time for errors to appear but it ran perfectly.
thanks in advance
Oh i almost forgot i have an Asus P5Q Pro

It could possibly be your PSU. Check that, then post your findings.

I blame ATI driver right off the bat.
just wait for 10.3 driver, or 10.2 hotfixes
if above failed
flash bios
if still fails
RMA

Plug your graphic card into the 2nd PCIe x16 slot and see what happens. If it still does the same thing. Exchange the card.

@Hero2 - i dont think so because it isnt even booting i believe its something hardware related

@kls85 - ill try this when i get home, but i was unaware that you could use the 2nd port with only one card i thought you had to have 2 in crossfire

Might be your board. If your newer card uses features that your older one doesn't, it might be that part of your board has a problem and that's what's causing the errors. It only takes a single burnt out component in the path between ICs and it's gonna cause no end of problems.

It might also be your RAM. Graphics cards share part of your system memory for the video buffer, and if there's a bad section of RAM it could cause errors. This may only be prevelant on your new card if it has a larger amount of shared memory.

yeah i was thinking it was my mobo is their anyway of checking compatibility? would it be on the gigabyte website? i updated bios off the asus website to see if that fixed anything but it resolved nothing. however my computer now does the 'everything is working' single bios beep about 5 seconds after the original 1 long 3 short code.

it's more than likely your graphics hardware, it should still be under warranty.
