| wheni plug in my headphones whatever im listening to plays through the speakers too, which i dont want. is there any way i can make it play through one or the other? halp D:

| Go to your audio settings from control panel. You can choose which device you wanna use, or you can disable the speakers while the headphones are on.

That would be PITA if you need to do that all the time.
Look into the sound card's control panel (not windows build in) and see if there is a setting that says something like "disable back panel audio when front audio is in use".

Or buy a nice sound card that auto detects when you plug in a device, headphones or speakers. Glad you got it sorted.

Depends what your using i guess =]. I usually just use earphones for my Ipod n stuff. I never used earphones for my pc though -.-

I thought headphones are those with a mic attached while earphones are those used for PC, mp3 players, etc, and it does not have a mic.

I disagree. In ear headphones are fine for mp3 players and such, in my opinion, but over ear headphones are usually significantly more comfortable for use over extended periods of time and tend to be cheaper for the same sound quality.
