|
|
I just managed to get my wireless network working, but now I've got another problem. The signal strength is just 65%, meaning my speed is like half of what I could get. The router is just 5 meters (Bout 15 feet?) away from my wireless adapter.
Is there anything software related that could cause this? Or is it just too far away or too many walls in between (About 2 or 3 I think)
Edit:
The link quality does stay at 90%+
Any thoughts on this?

Probably things blocking it, to boost it you could get a stronger wireless router to send a better signal, like an N router (assuming your using a G)

I believe it is an N router.

Then there isn't really anything you can do but get closer.

If the router has a antenna(s), then place the antenna in another position(s) to see if you can get a stronger signal.

Try changing the Channel and Mode inside the router?

I have a linksys N gigabit. If the adapter isn't strong enough the signal will suck, but even on a sucky signal its fast. You might want to reset it. Give it a factory reset, and see if it helps.

It also depends if there's anything interfering with his signal like a microwave or 2.4GHz cordless phone. He may need to change his Channel on his router to 11. I have the same exact router.
Also, make sure you have the latest firmware and always change settings when you're wired to the router.
