|
|
I have a brother 490CW Multifunction Ink Printer and recently it started to show black vertical lines when feeding documents into the feeder for scanning or copying
I am just wondering can this be fixed at home?
Or is it a hardware defect?
Scanning on the glass works fine

replace ink cartridge? try to clean out the dust maybe? Lots of things could cause this so you should try anything you can.

yea, but you don't have to take it apart completely. A lot of the parts come off easy (at least in my printer). Just use a damp cloth or a can of compressed air and just clean the inside.

Head is dirty, clean print head.
Run the Print head cleaning utility. You may need to run this a couple of times to get good results.

First try canned air. If its just dusty it should clean easy. If not, then disassemble it.

It's usually on the printer itself, play around with the setting and you should see it. If not take a look at the maintenance section of your printer software.
