what file extension would a dvd be?

like when i download it from other websites, it usually comes in .avi or .mp4. well i got 2 files and they came as mp4's and my dvdflick can't convert them, i was just wondering what file they come out to be. because when i convert them it doesnt save it, it just automatically opens IMGburn and burns the image to the disc.

Could be any number of video formats. Use a real program like [url=handbrake.fr]Handbrake[/url] to convert them to something dvdflick can use.

.vob for video and .bup/.ifo for menus and stuff.

I would suggest you to use ConvertXToDvd
http://www.vso-software.fr/products/convert_x_to_dvd/

a dvd is .vob, but if you use a program to burn a movie to a dvd, chances are it will convert anything.
