I just got an xbox 360 for 100$ ( Friend sold me his) and i was wondering how i would hook my xbox 360 to my computers monitor using HDMI.
My monitor is Hanns G HG281D and it has 1 HDMI port on it so would i just need to buy a hdmi to hdmi? Also how would i get audio with just the hdmi...
my monitor has 2 speakers and my computer has 2 so as long as i get audio from one of them im fine... but would i need another cable for the audio as well?

Check the back of your Xbox 360 for a HMDI port. If it has one then buy a HDMI to HDMI Cable. Plug the HDMI from your Xbox 360 to your monitor.
The sound will most likely come out of your monitor. It won't come out of your PC speakers because the PC Speakers are only connected to the PC and not the Xbox 360 in any way.

Alright so will any HDMI cable do or do i need the microsoft one..
also how would i get my monitor speakers to work on my PC, i have it hooked up thought the HDMI port right now but the speakers arent working?
they arent muted and at 100% volume... thanks

An HDMI cable is an HDMI cable. If you really want to use your shitty monitor speakers you'll probably have to install a driver for your applicable video card and operating system.

You can get any HDMI Cable. They are all the same. I bought a $5 HDMI cable from a local PC Store. If you go to major retail stores such as Dick Smith Electronics (Australia), you can find some HDMI Cables for $100.
I wouldn't recommend using your monitor speakers for your PC if you have external dedicated speakers. To allow for HDMI Audio through your from PC to Monitor, then you plug your HDMI Cable as normal, but then you need to open up your PC and plug in an SPDIF cable from your motherboard to your graphics card. What graphics card do you have? What Motherboard do you have?
The cable looks like this. Right goes to Graphics card, left 2 go to the motherboard.

Well i know the speakers are crap but i was just wondering if i have the xbox in my monitor where else would i get the sound from... i have 2x 5970s and i dont think i got one of those cables with my mobo or gpus :S

This is what I would do.
PC with dedicated speakers as normal.
Xbox HDMI to Monitor.
Both would have audio...
The 5970's don't allow for audio like Nvidia cards do so you won't be able to get audio through HDMI. Also 5970's don't have HDMI...

Well as long as i get audio on the monitor for the xbox im fine, they probably suck anyways  well thanks for your help
