http://www.bewawa.com/wdc-500gb-int-3-5-in-sata-3g-16m-7200rpm.html

I'm thinking picking it up for a quick upgrade.

And I have one more question, what do those enclosures do? If I put in this HDD, does it make the thing into a external harddrive or something?

Western Digital Desktop Storage Hard Drive WD5000AAKS Internal 500GB SATAII 7200rmp 16MB 300MB/sec

I mean, it'll work fine, as will any hard drive, but if you're getting it specifically for gaming, look for Caviar Black or Blue.

Better buy WD Caviar Black (1TB, 32mb cache, SATA II), its quiet and fast drive. I recommend it.

What about Caviar Greens?

And do enclosures make the thing an external HDD?

The WD Green drives aren't for performance as its rpm fluctuates between 5400 and 7200rpm.

If you buy a standard internal hard drive and also buy an external enclosure, then yes you would be making an external hard drive.
I personally prefer buying an External HDD then making my own because I used an enclosure once and when ever it was on, my speakers would make a loud noise non stop.

Get the Samsung SpinPoint F3 hard drive. The Bewawa website is down, so I don't know what your budget is ATM, but the 500GB HD503HJ is priced in the same range as the WD5000AAKS (which is a Caviar Blue drive, BTW) and the 1TB HD103SJ is about $90. They're among the fastest mechanical hard drives available and are actually considerably faster than the 10k RPM VelociRaptors according to a review.

Caviar green isn't meant for gaming, it's just meant for mass storage (i.e. archives) at a cheaper rate per GB. I mean again, it'll still run games fine, any HDD will. But if you're specifically looking for the best performance, don't go with Caviar Green. There is a reason they tend to be cheaper.

Wow faster read and write times than a Velociraptor.

That drive was $40 btw, but the sale is over. I didn't buy it, because the store was relatively new, but the people who ordered from them seemed happy with their purchase, so I'll probably go to them next time.

WD Caviar Green
1 TB, SATA 3 Gb/s, 64 MB Cache

WD Caviar Black
2 TB, SATA 3 Gb/s, 64 MB Cache, 7200 RPM

Basically, there is 64MB Caviar Green 1TB's, but for Caviar Black's, only the 2TB HDD has 64MB Cache.
