CPU - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103674&cm_re=phenom_ii_955-_-19-103-674-_-Product
Cheaper and comparable to the Core 2 Quad 9550, both overclock well plus the AMD 955 has an upgrade path. If you go with the core 2 quad, you'll be going with lga 775 with ddr2, which you will end up throwing out the ram and mobo. Plus I believe the core 2 quads are being phased out soon, as core i3 arrives.
Mobo - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128392
Decent overclocking budget board. I don't see why to not go with DDR3 as DDR2 prices sky rocketed.
RAM - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231277&cm_re=ddr3_1600_4gb-_-20-231-277-_-Product
Good RAM, I have the 2000 model and it's been pretty good so far.
Case - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119204&cm_re=coolermaster_elite_310-_-11-119-204-_-Product
Decent budget case.
GPU - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150351&cm_re=radeon_4850-_-14-150-351-_-Product
Good GPU for the price, plus it has lifetime XFX warranty.
PSU - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139005&cm_re=650w_corsair-_-17-139-005-_-Product
Quality PSU, and I'm sure it'll power your build just fine.
HDD - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136319&Tpk=640gb%20caviar%20black
I have this drive also, it's quite fast.
Optical Drive - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827151197
It's a drive..
Total comes out to 685ish after mail-in-rebates.
If you have any more questions, feel free to PM me. |

remove the cooler master hyper 212, get it if you want a crazy overclocking.
also, there is a $80 dollar rebate bring it down to ~620 USD before shipping.
bet you can get it below ~600 USD if you buy it from tigerdirect with cashback, but is just annoying to do it.
if you want a fast optical drive: Samsung SH223F (with hacked firmware, this thing runs twice as fast, google Samsung utility patch v.3.4.9 _________________

Sure it will run, but...it's just not a thing you want to do for a long term solution.
@OP, I would go with everything shota suggested, except switch the power supply with the one Ndure suggested. After rebates, that should still be well under $700. _________________

Yeah, if you think you are faggotry enough to get a 5970 and 20 hard drives and have them in raid 5 to store anime, then the seasonic (corsair) 400w is not for you.
is not like the 5770 draw power like the 4870, and is not like you are going to crossfire 5850 _________________

Plus, the rest of your build is really good, and due to the rebates you found, upgrading to the 650W will still be in the budget. I must commend you for being able to find really good deals on Newegg, and you still make really good builds, but you always have a lacking power supply. Plus, having a power supply that exceeds the demand is good if you ever want to upgrade anything else. _________________

30A on the +12v rail is more than enough to supply an 8-10A HD 5770. You could probably stack another one in CrossFireX and run a multi-drive configuration with the 400CX. The ~42A combined +12v with the OCZ ModXStream Pro offers a bit more headroom. _________________

There is a dual molex to dual PCI-E connector, but that would require two 4-pin molexes, which, if you have two hard drives and an optical drive, you'll only have one left. Besides, is it really worth it to gamble when it simply doesn't cost that much more for the 650TX? I mean he still has plenty of money in the budget. _________________

Energy consumption
We'll now show you some tests we have done on overall power consumption of the PC. Looking at it from a performance versus wattage point of view, the power consumption is good for a product of this caliber, according to ATI the 5770 has a TDP of 108 Watts.
The methodology is simple: We have a device constantly monitoring the power draw from the PC. After we have run all our tests and benchmarks we look at the recorded maximum peak; and that's the bulls-eye you need to observe as the power peak is extremely important. Bear in mind that you are not looking at the power consumption of the graphics card, but the consumption of the entire PC.
Our test system is a power hungry Core i7 965 / X58 based and overclocked to 3.75 GHz. Next to that we have energy saving functions disabled for this motherboard and processor (to ensure consistent benchmark results).
Our ASUS motherboard also allows adding power phases for stability, which we enabled as well. I'd say on average we are using roughly 50 to 100 Watts more than a standard PC due to these settings and then add the CPU overclock, water-cooling, additional cold cathode lights etc.
Keep that in mind. Our normal system power consumption is much higher than your average system.
Single GPU 5770
System in IDLE = 228 Watts
System with GPU in FULL Stress = 321 Watts
Difference (GPU load) = 93 Watt
Dual GPU 5770
System in IDLE = 249 Watts (= 21W added over single GPU)
System with GPU in FULL Stress = 423Watts
Difference (GPU load) = 174 Watt

amd>intel for price/performance ratio.
5770 and 4850 both exceed the 9800gt. _________________

i5 750 > AMD Phenom II 965 BE in some cases, in other cases they're about on the same. But that's not considering that the 750 is clocked almost 1GHz below the Phenom II. OC'd to 3.4GHz to match the 965 BE, it would blow it away. The i5 dual cores are overpriced, even though they're easily the best dual cores available (in which case you'd probably just want to buy an $83 MSRP Pentium G9650 and OC the hell out of it). _________________
