Model: HP ProBook 4310s, VM589PA
Motherboard: Mobile Intel PM45 Express Chipset
Processor: Core 2 Duo T6670 @ 2.20GHz, Socket PGA478
RAM: 4096MB DDR3 667MHz (limited by processor)
Graphics card: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4330 w/ 512MB
HDD: 250GB 7200RPM
I'm thinking of replacing the processor and adding additional RAM with higher speeds. Right now I'm looking at a P9700. Any better suggestions? Keep in mind that I can't OC or anything as the BIOS does not support such functions (OEM machines, go figure...)

I'd get a Q6600 processor and a new ati GPU if you are a gamer(Perhaps the HD4850, or the 5750)

A bigger HDD maybe. Thats about all you can do for a laptop. You already have 4gb ram. How do you expect to replace a processor when its part of the mobo? All Laptops come as one giant chunk of mobo besides the ram and HDD.

If you buy an hp laptop from a store, the processor is part of the mobo. And even if it isn't, guess what? They don't sell laptop cpus anywhere.

There is nothing from HP saying this CPU can be changed. Just because shit costs 800 bucks doesn't mean it can be.

Doesn't say it couldn't be replaced either. Just asking since there are better options that are compatible with my current chipset.

the only cpus that are stuck to the mobos are the via c7/mini itx combos.
