okay so my keyboard broke, i don't know how, it's either the cord or the keyboard port, i don't really know it was a crappy keyboard anyhow, the only problem is...now i'm on my laptop and it has none of the other things my computer has on it installed, is there a way i don't have to like put it all on a drive and transfer it? can i access it by like connecting the computers together with a enthernet cord or something so i can access it all.

Its most likely the cable from the keyboard to the laptop, but you would need to take it apart to find out. It could have just come undun, as they usually just have a lil clip to hold them on.

I use an FTP server to transfer files between PCs on my network - just go to it's LAN IP address in the bar -- http://lifehacker.com/130806/how-to-set-up-a-home-ftp-server

Edit: Since it seems the obvious answer would be to set up file sharing; guess I'll throw in that I did the FTP server so I could also access it while I'm at a friend's house.

Yea but he is saying the keyboard and such arent working.

You could always pull out the HDD (figuring its of standard size/shape) and place it on a secondary slot on a desktop. Then you could use something like linux live to move al the stuff from one HDD to the other.

He can still set up an FTP server fine - your keyboard and mouse can act for eachother. Keys can be used to navigate through menus if you have no mouse - mouse can be used to open up the on screen keyboard if you have no keyboard, and - if we're going by your logic.. don't you think he'd need a keyboard to use a second desktop to get the files? Not to mention that doesn't solve his problem with them not being on his laptop that he's using now.

I'm guessing they're on the same network/via router. Set up file sharing (100% chance you're using Windows), share a folder. Bingo.

If you can't take slow networking speeds, get a Cat5 crossover cable and hook the two up (or get 2 normal Cat5 cables and run them through a router). Pulling out the hard drive would work as well if you have the appropriate connectors.
