Is it safe to leave my laptop on downloading torrents?Can it cause some problems with the hardware?

If it overheats over long periods of time then it might not be very safe but if it can be left on for long periods of time otherwise then it shouldn't hurt anything.

Torrenting isnt illegal, and your laptop shouldnt even run hard with a torrent downloading. It would basically idle with it running in the background. Using utorrent or bittorrent, they use almost no ram and 0% cpu.

As Hero said, bittorrent programs aren't at all computationally intensive. If the computer doesn't overheat (to the point of shutting off) while being turned on for long periods of time at idle, utorrent isn't going to make it overheat.

JUST DONT GET BITCOMET. I cannot stress it enough that it runs far to hard and is full of spyware.
