|
|
Ok, im using window 7 (x64) and i just by being intrested in learning something like kernel related hacking, but the kernel is not possible in x64. So can DBVM fix this (If i understood the info right).
Do i "clean boot" the computer or can i run it in a "box" (Virtual PC)
And there was this:
Quote: | Safety: DBVM can be used by mallicious (<-- spellcheck) software. Therefore it requires a 64-bit long key to make use of the instructions. One of the instructions is to change the default key to a different key so other programs can not use it, without the proper key. |
What does this imply? Will other programs wil have problems running?

dbvm is able to fix that yes. the interrupts are handled in the dbvm-os and then passed on to the guest-os. So inbetween there it can be decided to change the location the interrupt goes to
Plus the ability to change from usermode to kernelmode whenever you feel like it.
Of course, editing kernel memory is still a problem, but might be fixed by using debug register, invisibly changing certain msr's, etc...
if you're lucky enough to have a computer that's able to do a clean boot with dbvm(it can be tricky to get it to work if you have multiple harddisks), use that
As for running it in a virtual box, almost no chance of that happening. Most of them don't support the instructions dbvm uses
Also, next ce version is able to launch dbvm at runtime (if you sign ce's 64-bit driver yourself or boot up using the allow unsigned driver option when pressing f8 ) which is a lot easier to configure and execute than launching on boot
as for incompatibility with other software: Only if it's software that also makes use of dbvm and you changed the default password (0123456789abcdef)
