I'm on Ubuntu 9.10, is there any tools/programs you think I should have? I already have Wine.

You got pretty much anything you need to start doing your activities.
Download decent media player like VLC and Amarok, but except those i think you got anything.
Oh yeah, a nice dock (Avant Window Navigator, for example) and Screenlets would be nice too :>
You got Gimp, OOO and much more already.

I use the music player Ubuntu came with, RythemBox. which is amazing to be honest. And I don't really need a dock, I like the simple drop down menu from the top.

Rhythmbox is crap.
Songbird is alright I guess, Amorak is good. Also, if you're interested in productivity you could get into using GNOME Do. I switched to awesome wm, but you can install the package "compizconfig-settings-manager" for setting up hot corners and miscellaneous sexiness...
