It says no operating system, or it cant finish booting properly?

If it won't boot up use the install disk to repair it. But if it says no operating system detected then your boot partition was probably switched.

Make sure you aren't booting from the wrong partition. I had that problem before. I accidently switched my boot partition from my operating partition.
Vista or XP?
If you have only 1 partition of you harddrive (C, D etc drives) then your operating system has either been erased or a critical boot file has been erased.

You will probably need a windows install disk, and do the repair option on that disk.

If you are booting from the wrong partition, you will still need that disk, you need the command prompt
I believe the commands are
Code:
diskpart
list disk
select disk (number of your disk)
list partition
select partition (number of your boot partition)
active

This has happened to me millions of times.

First of all check to see if it runs in safe mode, if it does then reinstall all drivers into the system32.

If it fails to safemode then you need to put your Windows Installation CD inside the computer and use the Repair function.
