In my opinion, the background color doesn't fit with the spiderman colors.
Edit; didn't see what you said in the first post. The white spot on the background is a bit weird too, i think.

At least no like really bad flame comment..Yet
The white part is the effect of a few brush layer, and layer effect. 
Also the background and render don't go along because at the ending of making the signature i changed the render and did not feel like restarting.

Make it more monotone with a dark color and it would look kinda good =0
Would end up with the effect of there being rain.

I agree.
the effect on spidey's outline is good (no, awesome) but make the whole thing darker. i want to sense the dark mood of the symbiote, if you catch my drift.
