How do I cheat?

Hello,

can someone tell me how Cheat Engine checks the type of the value the current address contains? For example how do it knows that it's an integer, float or double?

I hope someone can help me Smile

Cheat Engine dereferences and typecasts the address, check out the source, here are some examples.

In C++, to edit a value or read a value of an address do this in your dll:

Code:

// example of reading a 4 byte readable address
DWORD Read;
Read = *(DWORD*)0x00400000;


In delphi, to edit a value or read a value of an address do this in your dll:

Code:

// example of reading a 4 byte readable address
var
Read : DWORD;

Read := PDWORD($00400000)^;
