My dad's PC always uses 45% of his memory, even when he's not doing anything. He has a dual-core and has like 2.5 GB Ram. Running windows 7.
I don't know the specs but, it seems a bit weird that he always uses around the 45% of ram he has right? Any ideas how this is possible? He already scanned his computer with AVs and spybot search&destroy, didn't find anything..

Windows 7 and Vista are designed to use your RAM more efficiently. Check the system processes and you'll see. It will automatically release RAM from system processes for the programs that are up at the moment. If you're bugged by it (which you shouldn't be), you can disable some Windows start-up services and GUI extras like Aero. That should loosen up the RAM usage.

Windows 7 depending on what services you have running, will idle around half your ram. No matter how much you have. Its better this way.
