I've recently tried to clean install windows 7 ultimate 64bit, erasing everything from the system partition.
After the partition is formatted, I try to install it but after it says copying files (and reaches 100%) it says expanding files, which remains at 0%.
I've waited for a couple of hours but it doesn't move from 0%.
I've tried to repair it but to no avail, maybe because there is no windows installed.
Startup repair, it says that bootmgr is missing, but cannot fix it.

Much love for a solution.

Format your whole hdd, and delete all partitions. Create a new partition with all but 200 mb of the total size (ex. if your hdd is 76573MB in size create a partition in 76373MB. 200mb less.) Then install on the largest partition.

2. Click "Next" and type user password if prompt, click next.

3. In the dialog box titled "System Recovery Options", click "Command Prompt" and type in the following commands. Please press the Enter key after entering each command.



X:

CD X:\Windows

BOOTSECT /NT60 ALL



Note: Please replace "X:" in the two commands with the actual drive letter of the Windows 7 Installation drive.



BOOTREC /FIXMBR

BOOTREC /FIXBOOT

BOOTREC /REBUILDBCD

BOOTREC /SCANOS

You can also use the following tool to reset BCD:

I had a similar problem and this fixed it:

run the win7 install disk then click on repair computer and open up cmd

and type:
Code:
DISKPART

Code:
list disk

select your HDD (usually disk 0)
Code:
select disk 0

Code:
list partition

choose the partition that win7 is installed on
Code:
select partition 1
(or whatever number your win7 partition is on)
Code:
active

exit

exit

I don't have any os installed. The clean install of windows 7 ultimate 64bit stays at 0% and it says that boot manager is missing.
The partition containing the os was formatted.

I'll still try your suggestion, thanks.

In the diagnostics, the root cause found:
Boot manager is missing or corrupt.

Throw in live distro, take shit off.
Then do this:

I get the BSOD when I boot from a windows xp live cd.
Any other possible solutions?
