				I have win 7

this was the same problem in vista as well

if Firefox had a new update

it would start the update but right after it would say this

Software update failed

"the update could not be installed

please make sure there are no other copies of Firefox running on your computer and then restart to try again"

I restarted my computer but same problem

ended the firefox process and still the same problem

UAC is turned OFF

To fix this I usually have to uninstall and reinstall the newer version

but that can get annoying

				Restarting and doing everything you have done is less hassle than reinstalling Firefox? Even if that were true, this is simply a problem of you being too lazy to fix the problem yourself. It is more than likely some error that the awful programmers at Mozilla made in their last update.

				@Rozen

Yes same problem as it asks me to restart firefox but it gives me the same message

@elpacco

Of course I did try all those things, they may be more hassle but IF one of them had worked I wouldn't have to go through the hassle of reinstalling each time and thus would not be here asking for help
