I have the laptop HP Pavilion Dv6. I've upgraded legitimately to Windows 7 Ultimate.

Whenever I play games now (it never happened in Vista) instead of widescreen it has black strips on the left and right.
Please help.

It differs from each game, but generally it's Options > Graphics > Resolution.
Just change the resolution... Look for one which makes it widescreen (16:9 Ratio). Sorry I can't be more precise right now, quite busy.

All of them have the same amount of black stripes, but the quality does get better (no shit).

My driver is ati mobility radeon hd 4500 series.

Yeah it is in your game settings under display. Look for aspect ratio and resolution.
