I recently purchased Windows 7 Professional 64-bit for my laptop. It hasn't arrived yet, but I'm wondering...how does the upgrading process work for this?
I'm running Vista Home Premium 64-bit.
I looked up the help on Microsoft.com, but I'm still not sure if I'll be able to keep my programs and files or if I'll have to use an external hard drive. Help?

You run the setup you say upgrade, it quickly upgrades.

I think after you finish installing Windows 7, there will be a "Windows.Old" inside of your local drive.

It's said to be faster. I've never used Vista on my computer, so I don't know.

My friend just bought a laptop yesterday and got Windows 7 Home Premium and I know it's got a dual core CPU with 4GB of ram by quickly glancing at the specs sticker on the laptop.

Guess what, that thing ran like glue due to all the crap they threw in.
After removing all the junk, the machine ran like a charm.

When you buy a pre-built desktop/laptop from companies such as HP, Dell etc, they give you all this useless junk software. Like HP Games, and all this useless stuff. I like having a retail version of an OS so then all you get is the perfect OS without any useless unwanted software that your going to uninstall anyway.

If you actually bought the retail os/upgrade disc then you will have a clean Windows 7 OS.

Thanks!

Another thing though...
Looking at the programs that were preinstalled on my computer...
Among them are these:

Cisco EAP-FAST Module
Cisco LEAP Module
Cisco PEAP Module

What are they?
