Hi,
On the Vista/Windows 7 family, after entering your correct login, the login window fades to black, disappears, and then your desktop fades in.
How would you disable that?

you can't because it's not even considered as a special/Aero effect. what does it even matter anyway?

and you came to the conclusion that the fading starts it? -_-
there are many things going on in the background on login that could be causing this problem

yes, absolutely - I use windows classic visual style, disabled themes and DWM services, and heavy disk operations e.g. defragmentation do not trigger the fan.
(what else can you blame?)

If you have an nvidia or ati GPU, controlling the fan is trivial.
It's usually automatic though and will ramp up with heat.

then do you have a way to control the main fan before windows loads the desktop?
(it's a laptop with crippled bios, and the CPU fan is the same fan as the GPU one)
