You can start by not getting a $200 case.

Get something simple, but that is big enough for your needs. What is inside your computer should be much more important than how it looks on the outside.

If it comes down to needing to cut some off, ditch the graphics card for now and get a mobo with a decent chipset. Get the card later. My sisters shit pc has a geforce 6600GT chipset and its from walmart. ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE MAN.

Asus P7P55D Pro + 4GB Corsair Dominator DDR3-1600 - $275
Core i7 750 - $200
Cooler Master RC-690 - $70
Corsair CMPSU-550VX - $80
Asus VH222H - $150

You're going to have to find a decent aftermarket LGA1156 cooler, unless you're satisfied with the stock one. i5 750 is $160 at Microcenter, grab it from there if you're near one and save yourself a nice chunk of cash (o.o it's even cheaper than my E4300 from 3 years ago!). Also, wait for the stuff to drop on Black Friday. The CMPSU-550VX posted $55 after MIR once, and a similar Seagate drive went for $80 with a Newsletter promo code just the other week.

i wont play anything other than source games and i think that 70fps with the 4870 is fine.
and i want the monitor. and thats like 1000 total. i have 1200 ish budget.

Because you can do a lot better than a 4870 if you're looking to spend >$1k on a build.

but, all i will be playing is cs:s, tf2, l4d. so the 4870 will do just fine.
