Well I'm considering buying a new computer and I've found one that looks good but I'm wondering if it can run Crysis Warhead and/or Call of Duty 4 smoothly.

Here are the specs:

-CPU: AMD Athlon X2 240, 2.8GHz*2 Dual Core, 3MB L3 cache

-Motherboard: All in one motherboard DDR2-800 PCI-E 16X SATA 2 & RAID

-Graphics Card:9500GT 512MB

-Ram: 2GB DDR2-800

-HDD: 320GB SATA2 7200rpm

-Optical Drive: 22x DVD-RW

I'm also wondering if I should get it with Windows Xp or Windows Vista.

What's the price? Expect low, perhaps medium settings with that build.

Both XP and Vista suck, get Win 7.

$600 NZD

I'd rather not get Windows 7 because I don't want any issues that's why I'm leaning towards Windows XP.

XP will give you more issues as all software is now designed for Vista. You'd also miss out on DirectX 10/11 and just generally be making an embarrassing mistake by going for XP instead of Vista/Win 7...

However I wouldn't spend money on windows anyway, the trial lasts forever and is fully functional (other than the desktop image).

Anyway you should be able to run crysis and cod 4 smoothly, but not at high settings and probably not more than a 1.4 megapixel or so resolution.

Thanks Ecstasy.

A few questions though, If a trial version of Windows XP is installed can I do anything that a full version user could do or am I restricted somehow?

And do you mean that it wouldn't be able to play CoD4 at high smoothly?
If so then would a 9800gt help in anyway?

Oh and one other thing if I do get a trail OS then couldn't I simply search some warez websites and find some sort keygen that would create a key to make it the full version or does this require a CD?

On any given Windows starting from XP, if the trial expires, you're prompt to activate your product otherwise you will not be able to log in.

Windows that does not pass the Windows Genuine Advantage gets a black desktop along with a "This copy of windows is not genuine" plastered on the bottom right-hand corner of your desktop.

The RC version limited the usage to 2 hours.

Just get a legit version of Windows Vista or Windows 7 to avoid the hassle in the long run.
No need for retail, get OEM and the price is cut by half.

W7 is available for $30 if you can prove you are a student.

Or maybe your school offers it for free already.

School offers nothing to do with computers.

Found a guy that wants to sell me Windows XP OS for $130 NZD, Not sure if that's acceptable or not.

My computer is nearly identical to that setup, and at the resolution of 1680x1050 it's hard to find a decent game that I can run at high settings without dropping below 25 FPS.

If you don't plan on running at a very high resolution, it may work fine for you though.
