Windows Vista not letting me open files on another HD

Okay so I had a hard drive that corrupted (Boot files did, Don't know how)

So today I decided to run it on another computer and the thing works as long as its not the one booting the computer, I'm looking at my old files, But some of them wont work saying I dont have permission, How do I change it? :

is the other hard disk also vista installed programs or another OS?

It has windows XP installed.

Try taking ownership of the files.

Ya its because windows has protection. But I think games installed on xp will work if you make a shortcut on the vista desktop. You may need to move or copy the save file to the vista location for the game.
