Hi, I currently have a Gigabyte GTX260, but I have a friend (he's rich) who's giving me a XFX 9800GX2 Black Edition free.
Which is better? And why?
I play a lot of games on the weekend such as CS:S, Crysis/Warhead, Fallout3, Left 4 Dead, Arma2.
Looking forward to games such as L4D2, NFS Shift, Assassins Creed 2, Crysis 2, APB etc.
I will be playing a lot more hardcore games soon in the holidays.
My current monitor is a 22" running at 1680*1080, but sooner or later I may upgrade to 24" 1920*1080 resolution.

yes, the GX2 is likely to be faster in anything that has an SLI profile.

be weary of micro-stuttering however...

Micro Stuttering? Also would there be a major heat increase?
Currently my GTX260 runs at these temps stock...

To be honest from all the articles I have read about SLI/Crossfire scaling to reviews about the graphic card sli-ing with nvidia xxxxx or ati xxxxx there is generally a problem and less performance than to a single card solution.

ArmA 2 hates SLi (or CrossFire). I personally still think that a single-GPU is superior overall.

If I were you, I'd stuff that 9800GX2 into another system and use it for other purposes.

The 9800GX2 is based on the old architecture (G92) where as your GTX 260 is based on the new GT200.

The GT200 dual-GPU based card will be the GTX295, which contains 2x GTX 260s.
Asus has one which has 2x GTX285 dubbed MARS.

Great Idea, I have another PC with a 9600GT (Was temporarily used for Media Centre), now I all I need is a CPU for the Media Centre and it's a hardcore gaming machine...
