Graphics Card Effed Up?

Okay I was playing a game(Wolfenstein) on the default settings for my card(GTS 250). I was playing for ~2 hours then I closed the game. Firefox was open, so right after, I went to download something. Then my computer just started to lagg like crazy. I waited for 5 or 10 seconds, then when I saw my computer wasn't going to start responding, I restarted it. But then the display of my computer was messed up.
Like it's supposed to say nVidia GTS 250, but it has all these wierd characters in its place and I have to boot up in safe mode.

Does this mean my GFX card is fried?

sounds like over heating memory if the textures or buffer output (the picture on the screen) is messed up. Underclock or send back if there is a defective memory chip. No tbh there is no way to check for bad memory chips on a grx card board only to diagnose...

That is what happened to me.
So this means my gpu is fried?

that happens because firefox takes more CPU then most browsers
