i need to reformat. there is something wrong with my computer. i have some files that i cant backup to an external source, an i dotn want to wait much longer, cause its getting worse and really ticking me off. so im wondering, is it possicle to wipe the c drive clea, and backup what i need to another partion? i dont know how to do this

Something like the gparted Live CD would work. Basically, shrink the ntfs partition, make a new partition, and manually copy the files you want. The Ubuntu Live CD, and maybe others also have gparted installed.

Depends what D is and if it has enough space, but if it's not going to be affected (read: wiped out) by the install of 7, go for it.

If I were you, I would bring an external hardisk and copy all my files to it, and completely format the HD and remove the partitions. Then create 2 partitions, one is "C" which will hold the windows files and the other one is "D" which will hold your files and documents.

meh ive already done it. jsut dragging through windows.old... honestly it look like someone jsut took a big ol' shit on my comp screen as far as the color scheme goes.

The Windows 7 theme? Both NVidia and ATI have Windows 7-approved drivers I recommend installing (along with other system drivers).
