On my xps 16 whenever I close it and then later re-open it about 80% of the time it will crash go to a blue screen it isn't te BSD but perhaps a new one. I can't figure out why though? OS: Vista

Kind of looks like the Windows 9x/ME BSOD. Here's a fix: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/189655

Apparently this is caused if an older version of a Symantec program (such as Norton Antivirus) Is installed.

try reformatting and using a different antivirus. Its either a bad driver or AV.

'Course. With a Live operating system you can go in and copy what you need to a separate partition or usb drive or CD, etc.
Although there is always the possibility that you have to reinstall programs, that they won't run from their folders.

Could be but there's a free program out there that displays the BSOD you got.

Ok well I'm getting a free win 7 x64 update. Seeing as this isn't mch of a hassle should I just wait. I might do a system restore but I'm worried if it will remove my pre-installed wifi cards drivers. Backing up would be hard seeing as I have 251 gigs of taken up memory. out of 500 gig.
