Is this another reason ;
because Windows configures your Wireless adapter to connect to the wireless router.

When my father bought this adapter it came with a CD and a program from Linksys that would find the wireless connection and keep me connected. But I think it got deleted or disabled while I was restoring. Comments?

There are 2 ways to connect to a wireless router when you have an adapter plugged in. First one is by installing a software which will allow you to seach for wireless signals and configure settings. The second one is integrated in the windows itself (There is no installation required or anything). But what you should know about it. Is that you only can one of the ways above, the two doesn't work together. So here is how to do it without a CD or installtion.

Plug you wireless adapter in your computer

If you have windows xp, go to:
- Start
- Control Panel
- Network connections

And make sure your wireless connection is there and enabled. If it's disabled. Right click it with your mouse button and select enable. Then you should see the wireless connection near your computer clock in the lower right corner. Double click on it and search for the wireless network and connect.

If you have windows vista or 7, go to
- Start
- Control Panel
- Network & Sharking Center
- Manage Network Connections.

And do what I mentioned above in orange

What I was saying was that maybe when Windows configures your wireless adapter to connect to other routers - that`s what causes disconnection ; I was mentioning if you used the software that came with the adapter, that might help reduce disconnection?

No it won't, disconnections can be caused by:

1- Faulty wireless adapbter drivers: You need to update your drivers in this case.
2- Jammed signal: Which is caused by devices that use 2.4GHz like cordless phone. So you might wanna move away cordless sutff that interfers with the wireless signal.
3- Viruses: Running a virus scan is recommended.

Also try to change the wireless channel.
