recently i had bought a computer

http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0665000FS10124870&catid=

RAM : 8GB DDR3
CPU: Intel quad Core 2.33 ghz
HDD: 1TB
OS: Win Vista 64 bit home premim
GPU: ATI RADEON HD 4650
Power supply: 300 watt

had bought it open box first and had problem with it was starting to heavely lag when playing a crappy 3D games then pc was shutdowning directly and completely when it was restarting it had BSOD error sometime and had to run a kind of repair tool that come with gateway to be able to boot computer, it did that sometime randomly when i played game could take 15 min or 5 hours before doing it... So i went back to store and they gave me a new one of same model not open box but a fresh new one, this time i had same problem again kinda , start to lag a lot but then it simply reboot without any problem, i went to control panel (see link for spec its vista) and lcciked on power options, i changed that to high performence, now it don't reboot or shutdown anymore but still start to lag sometime, i thihks its because the graphic card don't have enough power

because there it say card need at least 400 watt power supply

http://ati.amd.com/products/Radeonhd4600/requirements.html

while on link above with my pc spec you can see i have a power supply of 300 watt

im wondering is that really the cause of the problem and should i buy a new power supply and can my case change power supply? ...

edit: forgot to say im playing on a 55 inch LCD TV with HDMI connection and also i have a geforce 9800 gtx+ that i could use i dunno if its better...

If the card needs a minimum of 400W, I'd go for 750W, just to be on the safe side.

Get a new PSU. PSUs nowadays are more or less the same size, so it should fit in your case.

WTF? 750W? You can run an OC'd SLi/CrossFire setup with a Core i7 and multiple extra interface devices if you get a decent brand 750W PSU. Anyways, my 3GHz quad core, OC'd GTX 260, and dual hard drive configuration runs perfectly with a high-quality Corsair 400W PSU. It's running for $30 after MIR at Newegg.

@OP: The HD 4650 will not provide enough power to play your games at full HD with all the eye candy turned up (of course, depending on the game). Also, the 9800GTX+ is considerably faster than the HD 4650.

About the power issue, Gateway should have had their models (their technical specifications) tested before mass production began. Vista's Power Options allow for hibernation/sleep after a set amount of time, which would explain the system 'shut downs'. The lag may be caused by numerous things outside of the GPU, ping (if it's online multiplayer), crappy game engine/porting, etc.
