I'm on a 600$ budget, Well, I can go to 650 but that's max.

I was wondering if you guys could help me out. I want 1 that can run the games I play with no problem :

Killing floor
Counter strike : source
Team fortress 2

Also, I don't need a monitor or graphics card.
I got a GeForce 9500GT 512mb which hasn't let me down, so i'd rather waste the money that was going on the gfx card for a better cpu or more ram =P

So yeah, all im asking for is the best gaming PC build for the price of 600-650$

Can't post links Sad

Okay so, I'm choosing this hard drive it's 63$ after the promotional code :

newegg dot com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136218

Rolling Eyes

My old 8800GS (384MB) could max out AC easily with only 2GB of system RAM. Even with AC, the 9500GT could probably do medium-ish settings with a good framerate. TF2, CS:S, and Killing Floor are no where nearly as intensive; I'm positive that even the 9500GT will play them maxed out with a good number of FPS.

Core i7 is overkill for that class of gaming. 750W PSU is far, far too much. And, of course, you're still missing a case, optical drive, DDR3 RAM, and any other accessories and a monitor he might need.

@OP: If you're only going to play those games, you could easily snatch a cheap Pentium Dual Core (Core 2 architecture) and put it together with a P45-based mobo (or even a cheaper G3x chipset), 400W PSU, 2-4GB DDR2 RAM, HDD, optical drive, and a monitor + accessories for that price. What else are you going to use your computer for? What are your current PC specs (if we were to salvage some parts from it; i.e. hard drive, optical drive)?

Actually, I play crysis as well =P!

I'm pretty sure that with 600$ I can get a better computer than my old one? (Pentium 4 3 GHz, 512MB RAM 444Mhz, 1 GB Ram 667 MHz (Mixed))

All I really care about is being able to play games without lagging and maybe being able to record games.

Edit : The only thing I can use is the monitor + Video card. I would prefer to buy the rest brand new, As for the hard drive, my slave drive is IDE so I doubt i'll be using that anymore and my main drive corrupted.

my old PC was from 2006 or 2007, the main HDD was 80GBs Rofl.

i7 + X58 burns too much of the budget. If Nehalem is on your mind wait for Core i5 and P55.

Q8200 - since there was extra money to spend. If you need to save up ~$80, then go for this.
Gigabyte EP45-UD3R
Corsair CMPSU-400CX - Amazing 400W PSU, cheap and powerful
Seagate 1TB - large, not too expensive compared to 500GB and 750GB hard drives
Cooler Master RC-690 - it's supposed to be amazing. I, myself, usually go cheap with the case, but it's usually up to the buyer. It's not too expensive compared to the Antec products (which I would also consider buying).
Lite-On DVD burner
Kingston HyperX T1 4GB - I own them myself, flawless (and only $5 more than a good set of G.Skill RAM). This is also good if you only think you'll need 2GB.

Purchasing the more expensive items on the list puts the subtotal at $523 without taxes and counting MIR. That gives you a lot of space to get a headset and a cheap mouse + keyboard. If you're still strapped on cash, go for the dual core processor rather than quad core I selected.

Well I actually have a razer megalodon so the headset is not needed, I got a wirelss mouse/keyboard which is fine for now (I hate it for gaming, But it'll do against the AI's in killing floor)

I'm checking out the list you just posted, I will edit my post in a bit

Edit : okay well, So far so good with that list ^ I was just wondering, How many fans could the power supply connect? my current PC only can connect 1 and thats the intake for the CPU....

The Lite on drive is sold out and I'm buying it later today (its 12 am so it counts as today lol)

My question still remains btw, Which OS should I get vista 32 bit or vista 64?

I believe CORSAIR 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model TWIN2X4096-6400C5 is better than Kingston HyperX T1

That 1 is 800 Mhz, The other one is 1066 MHz

I already added the HDD I chose (Extremely cheap for 640 GB)

The kingston RAM
Gigabyte Mobo
and the intel core 2 quad Q8200

So far its 400$

I still need the PSU (Waiting for him to answer my fan question)
an OS and an optical drive.

Why not try Windows 7? It doesn't hog resources and is quite effective.
